Armed to the teeth
This phrase means to be heavily armed. It is a pirate phrase that originated in Port Royal Jamaica in the 1600's. They carried single shot weapons and would carry many of these weapons at once to keep up the fight. They also carried a knife in their teeth.
This and many other idioms are defined and for many they have the source of the term.
