Saturday, today, a bunch of us are going to pull a UPS jet for the Special Olympics. We should have about 20 people. I hope we do anyway because that is the most we are allowed to have on our team and we need all of the muscle we can get. If you want to come cheer us on we should be pulling soon after 1PM. It most likely will be very hot and one of us heavy smokers could easily passout.

I will be DJing again one week from today. Saturday, August 10th, at El Mundo. I'll be laying down the tracks and Stacy Stiletto will be pouring the drinks. I will probably be playing some of the stuff I played at Sparks back in the day but my musical tastes have changed and my music collection has expanded so don't expect it to be the same thing over again. Then again I will have about 4 hours to fill most likely so who knows what I'll end up playing. El Mundo is on Frankfort Ave and it closes at 2AM so I will probably be spinning from 10PM to 2. Now if there is someone who is a regular to this site and didn't know me when I DJed at Sparks I need to tell you that my mixing skills are pretty weak. I am more of a fader. I fade from one song to another. I can't match beats to save my life.

I'm really looking forward to it. Apparently, I get a free meal, a little cash and drinks. I will most likely be giving you reminders all week. :-)

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Today's pic of the day is a photo of the label of the dried squid that I ate yesterday. I referred to it as squid jerky because it definitely had the jerky consistency to it. The reason I put the picture up is because the squid logo looks like an pig red penis with eyes and tentacles.

If by some miracle you don’t see it just cover the logo from the eyes down and if you still don’t see it you need to turn in your eyes for a new pair.

I’ve been filling my spare computer time with a couple of Photoshop tutorials. The one I’m going through right now is a tutorial over at Think Dan. It has a lot of neat tricks that I hadn’t thought about doing. These tutorials are more about using Photoshop for graphic design instead of doctoring pictures. You know like putting breast on a friend for the comic value. These tips are for adding effects to pictures, dramatic motion blur, making pictures look better and other things of that nature.

I’m going back to playing with photoshop.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I had squid jerky today...

It wasn't a completely unpleasant experience. But the squid logo on the packaging looked like a red erect penis.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I broke my digital camera.

When I was in Huntsville about an hour before Roy and I left I dropped my camera. At first everything seemed alright but later I noticed some problems. I can still take pictures but none of the viewers work because the controls that operate them aren't working. So it makes it very difficult to take a picture since the zoom and aim are now guess work.

Georgio says he can get it fixed for me so I sent it to him. If he can't get it fixed I'm going to have to buy a new camera anyway so its definitely worth trying. Georgio hasn't failed me yet.

Anyway, the pic of the days are going to be pictures I took in Huntsville for the next few days and then I will probably do a "best of" thing for a few more days until either I can get my camera back or go ahead and purchase a new one.

We shall see what happens.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Have you ever listened to a song a hundred times and then one day you listen to it again and you realize something new about the song or a new meaning?

When I was at Nikki’s I had hooked up my laptop to their sound system and we listened to my music all day. I already had a folder with a bunch of great music that I had made when I was burning a MP3 CD for the trip down. You could say I was somewhat practicing for my DJ revival next month sometime.

Anyway I was listening to Fatboy Slim’s song, Weapon of Choice. You may remember the video because it featured Christopher Walken playing a tired salesman sitting in a hotel lobby and all of a sudden he breaks out into this big dance number. There is a line in the song that they repeat several times, “Walk without rhythm, and you won't attract the worm.”

Now maybe I’m dense but I was trying to put a meaning to it like the worm would represent a penis and walking without rhythm would be applied to say a woman. Not that my interpretation was perfect I assumed it basically meant that if a woman walked in the right way she would attract a man.

So I was listening to the song Saturday night and it suddenly hit me, “Walk without rhythm, and it won't attract the worm.”

That is a DUNE reference! Frank Herbert’s DUNE. There is a line in DUNE where Paul says, “Remember... walk without rhythm and we won't attract a worm... it'll go to the thumper.”

It’s so obvious to me now that I feel kind of stupid for not noticing it before.

Have you ever had a similar experience?

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Roy and I are back and I’m glad to say that it wasn’t like Smokey and the Bandit or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Which is fine with me because I didn’t want to find myself in a Alabama jail. Not that I did anything that would end me up there in the first place. The only law that I know I broke was speeding most of the way down and back. There were some young people at the party but it would be difficult to pin contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

I always hate saying goodbye to Nikki. Well, it’s not exactly hate. I’ll have to explain. The last few times Nikki has been in town she has stayed the night at my place. Which is fine with me because we usually have a good talk when we get away from the bar. Anyway, she usually ends up falling asleep first and I go do my post and go to bed myself. By the time I get up she is already gone and on her way home or on her way to see her family. So I don’t have to suffer through a long goodbye but I really don’t get the opportunity to say goodbye at all. I’m mentally debating on which is worse.

Well, we had a great time but I don’t think I got enough material for the next great American novel or enough material for a comedic car chase movie.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I wanted to break away from the party for a minute and do my post.

Roy and I are having a great time. Most of Nikki and Henry's friends seem pretty cool. Roy has made himself sort of famous or infamous here by asking the three women if they were up for a foursome. This is funny in itself but all three happened to be rocket scientist. NASA has facilities here and it seems like most of the town works for NASA. This "Why don't we have a foursome?" line didn't work very well. Not that you have to be a rocket scientist to see through that line.

Did I mention earlier that its HOT!? It's now 1:14AM Huntsville time and it has just recently gotten where you can sit and not sweat.

I've taken a few pictures but I think I'lll save them for when I get back home. Which will be tomorrow evening sometime. Until then...

Good Night Good Morning, whatever.
