This may become a weekly feature for me as long as there are new episodes…
South Park Topic Discussion
I probably need to work on the title. Anyway this week the topic of the show is the re-editing of movies by the original directors in order to re-release it and make some extra dough.
The South Park kids are against it because they feel that the movies they grew up with are as much theirs and part of their lives as they are to the people who actually made them. Metaphorically anyway.
The show points it finger at three directors: Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola. That is the order of magnitude also. The big guns aimed at Spielberg and barely a mention of Coppola until near the end.
Coppola a while back had added extra footage to Apocalypse Now and called it Apocalypse Now Redux. Personally I did like the new footage but it made a very long movie into a very, very long movie. I had to wait to see it on cable because I couldn’t make myself sit for nearly 4 hours in a theatre.
Lucas, added effects to the older Star Wars films, more ships a few extra creatures in the background and in the original Star Wars he added a scene with a new digital Jabba the Hut. In the original, Jabba was cut because he looked lame.
And Mr. Spielberg edited E.T. by taking out the guns the FBI were carrying with radios. I’ve heard that replaced some of the dialogue but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.
I know I was annoyed the most by Spielberg’s changes. His changes to E.T. seemed completely unnecessary and I feel that it hurt the film. Star Wars changes were window dressing in my opinion for the most part. He just wanted it to look a little better. Coppola, well he couldn’t buy hit to save his life right now and he probably needs the money.
Personally on all of the films… they should just leave well enough alone. For Crissakes, at the time E.T. was the biggest movie of ALL TIME! Times change but the movies shouldn’t.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel. At this point I have 28 CD’s left to rip to MP3’s.
I’m already looking forward to putting together the mother of all mix CD’s. As I’ve mentioned before I have a stereo in my car that plays MP3’s on CD-Rs. I plan on taking the best 1 or 2 songs off of each album and have a solid 10 or 11 hours of great music on one CD. I’m not looking forward to the weeding out process but I am MOST definitely looking forward to the outcome. That will probably be my project for the weekend. It sounds like a good Saturday afternoon project.
This week has gone by pretty quick. I shouldn’t say that because that means that tomorrow will probably make up for the rest of the week.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I posted this article in the forum, House votes to allow guns in cockpit.
I hate to agree with the White House (I say White House because I can't bring myself to agree with Bush.) BUT having guns on a plane seems like a bad idea.
Its my understanding that in prison, guns are not allowed to be carried by guards because of the chance that an inmate may overpower a guard and take his gun from him and then you have a big problem with an even greater potential for loss of life. I mean they can't carry guns in areas where prisoners have access.
Now if a group of terrorists get on board a jet and there is a gun already on the plane... these guys were willing to give up their lives for their cause on 9-11. What's to keep a couple of guys from rushing the pilot and getting the gun? Shooting them not only endangers the other passengers but isn't really a deterrent for a group of men willing to die anyway.
The bill has only passed the House and it apparently will face opposition in the Senate, not to mention the posibility Bush will veto it.
I believe that there are better solutions.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I need to get something off my chest...
I'm sure almost everyone has heard the stories in the papers about certain Catholic priests molesting young boys and either getting away with it or having the cases swept under the rug by the hierarchy of the church. Well, I was raised Catholic and between the ages of 10 to 13, I was an altar boy.
I just wanted to say that I was never molested by a priest or anyone affiliated with the Catholic Church. The priests were never anything but kind to me and it makes me mad to hear about what has been going on…
I mean, what was wrong with me? Wasn’t I cute enough? The way you hear it on the news every priest buggered every altar boy in the country. I feel like that kid no one would ever dance with at the homecoming dance.
I think I’m going to cry myself to sleep tonight.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

We all had a good time over at Roy's Grandma's for his Crawfish Boil. It seemed like there were more people there this year. I know the weather was much better. The sun was hot but in the shade you would catch a cool breeze every so often. It was really a great day for it.
I figure I'm about three quarters done ripping most of my CD's to MP3's. I've been doing it for about a week now off and on. I started making better time when I brought my laptop downstairs and swapped out the CD's as I watched TV. Whenever I tried to do it while playing a game I'd put a disk in and forget about until about 10 minutes later whn the screensaver would kick in.
I have a time range when I'll DJ again. Most likely early August because El Mundo will be closed the last two weeks of July. I'm still looking forward to it.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
