I must admit I'm still smiling from Thursday night. I want to thank everyone who came and especially all of the women who were nice enough to come to the bar dressed like I asked.
I've had a chance to sit down and talk with some of the women who came dressed up and most of them were sort of worried that they would be the only person to show up dressed like catholic school girls. So it took a little courage on their parts to go to a public place in what is essentally a costume, at least when adults wear it.
I'm up too late because I was watching the Second Season of the Sopranos. I'm going to Tell City tomorrow to show my Mom how to use her new digital camera. So...
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I know the bartenders and the owner of the Mag were happy. The bar was packed most of the night. There were many reports of people asking about why all of the women were dressed up. So I WAS able to help provide some joy into the lives of others.
I must admit that I was a little worried if I was going to be able to pull this thing off. I felt better about it early in the evening when Nancy told me that she walked into Shehans (Spelling?), its this place that sells actually catholic school uniforms. Anyway Nancy walked up to the counter and the guy working there said, "Let me guess you're going to a birthday party" When I heard that I was a lot less worried.
I also want to thank Mike and Matt for sending me copies of the pictures they took so quickly. I've included their pictures in the gallery also.
Good Afternoon.

The last shameless plug for my birthday party. Tonight is the night! Come down to the Mag and come see me get my annual drink on!
When I got home ‘10’ was just getting started on one of the Encore channels. It’s the movie that first introduced me to Dudley Moore and Bo Derek.
It’s about this guy who turns 42 and on his way home he looks to his left at a traffic light and sees Bo Derek in a limo wearing a wedding dress. He is struck by the figurative lightning bolt which kicks him into his midlife crisis.
The whole thing is a fantasy to him. He sees this beautiful woman that he hasn’t even heard speak and he becomes obsessed with her. Of course the fantasy is shattered when he actually meets her. The movie is filled with him doing stupid things in order to get closer to this woman. Lots of slapstick. Bee stings, falling down a hill, hot sand and a bunch of other things.
The movie built this fantasy around Bo Derek so well that for most of my adolescence I lusted after her myself. Now that I know her politics I think a lot less of her as a person and a sex goddess.
Lastly, I want to end this post with a quote from Jeff Clemons a friend of mine.
“As she’s picking through the trash… She’s stealing my heart.”
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is my birthday and it looks like there will be quite the party at the Mag Bar. I plan to be there by 11PM but to give myself a little extra leeway I put 11:59 PM on the invitations I passed out. So far I've passed out about 70 invitations and most said they would definitely be there which means there will probably be about 35 or 40. Even though I've tried not to mention it at work I have heard rumblings going around that a few people from there may come down also.
This is going to be the last time I mention what I want for my birthday. This is the only thing I want. If I get this then I won't need or want anything else. I want every woman I know to dress up like a catholic school girl for my birthday. That and of course come down and visit me at the Mag. I have been trying to push this for about 3 weeks now and it looks like things are shaping up very nicely. Almost all of my female friends say they will do it. Not only that but most of them told me they already had the outfit or at least something close to it. Some thought my idea was amusing, others thought it was fun and a few others seemed to be very excited about dressing up for it.
I've had several guys say that they're dressing up also. I don't mind if they do, I think it would be funny but that's completely up to them. It's not really what I'm going for.
If you're in Louisville you should stop by Thursday Night.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

It seems like for the last week I have seen nothing but Spiderman.
Spiderman commercials.
Spiderman movie critic reviews.
Spiderman moviegoer comments.
Spiderman interviews.
Spiderman news.
yadda yadda yadda...
I'm considering being the first to start the Spiderman backlash. I haven't seen the movie yet, though I really want to. My problem with starting the backlash is that I like Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe and Sam Raimi. I even think J.K. Simmons is great, who by the way I hear practically steals the show as J. Jonah Jameson, Peter Parker's Boss.
I guess I'm going to have to see the movie before I start my backlash of the film. It really doesn't make sense if I don't. I can't say the movie was over-rated or anything until afterwards. I may have to get up early sometime this week and go see it. I may just wait until Thursday and catch a matinee since I have the day off.
I do feel confident in saying that Spiderman is NO Cider House Rules. Which is a fine film. Not a lot of action though.
Anyway...
Good Night, Good Monring, whatever.

I feel kind of guilty. A friend of mine had someone close to them die recently and I don't feel that I've been there for her. I didn't really know the person who passed away very well. I didn't go to the visitation, I didn't go to the wake and I can't go to the funeral.
I feel like I'm being a little selfish... I just don't want to go to another one of these things for a while. It seem like the last one was not that long ago. It has been a while but it feels like it just happened.
Sometimes I can be a selfish ass.
I'm so very tired that I may get to bed by 3AM. Which I haven't done since the last time I was sick.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Well, another Kentucky Derby has come and gone and the winner was a horse named War Emblem, owned by a Saudi prince.
There was no terrorist activity that I heard about. I don't know if it’s just me or not but it seems like this was a particularly tame Derby. I personally didn’t do much more than I normal do; actually I did a little less. I vegetated all day watching movies on cable and didn’t even get motivated and go out until about 2AM. Which wasn’t a particularly bad time to go out because the bars are allowed to stay open until 6AM.
I had a good time but I didn’t really do anything out of the ordinary. I did get to see a few old friends and make some new ones. So I guess you couldn’t ask for much more.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
