I spent most of the evening playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. That game is friggn' sweet. I recently got passed the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach. You're in a boat heading toward the beach and you can look around and watch the other boats. You can see one of the boats next to yours blow up and the other guys in your boat look like they are about to cry. Some seem to be praying. It took me a couple of tries to just make it to the beach. If you find the medic heal patch you up real quick but then you got to get to real cover. After several attempts I finally made it to the bunker and then finally made it inside where I worked my way up to the guns and killed all of the Nazi's and took out the gunners in the other bunker and gun nests on the cliff. You finally see your guys pour in from the beach and you’re on to your next mission.
My recent luck seems to be continuing today. On my way home from work I stopped to wash my car windows and as I was leaving I accidentally drove threw some debris left behind by a recent car accident. Next thing I hear is this clicking sound like something is stuck in my tire. I stop and find this screw with a Zippo sized piece of plastic stuck to it in my tire. I try to pull it out but I hear a little hiss of air. So I figure I better leave it. I go back to the gas station where I washed my windows and they have no fix-a-flat. So I figured I could make it to the next gas station. Summing up the rest, the clicking stopped and I figured I was leaking air. I finally got my Fix-a-flat and I am still waiting for the air to leak out which so far has not happened.
I shall see tomorrow I assume.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

This has been a very odd day for me. I think my biorhythms are out of whack.
First of all I walk out of the house and I forgot to put my contacts in. It wasn’t like I was walking around blind. I was wearing my glasses but this is the first time I ever forgot to put in my contacts.
On the way to work I stopped and got some gas and when I was leaving the gas station I went the wrong direction. So I had to turn around and get back on track. When I got to work, I was walking toward the building and tripped as I was walking over this median in the parking lot. I fell but I never hurt myself. I got a little dirt on the palm of my hand but no damage done. At work the day went uneventfully, except I did get quite a bit accomplished.
I ran by Cahoots to see Helene and I ran into a couple of other friends. Hung out there for an hour or so and went home. As soon as I came into the house I turned on the TV and sat down. I reached up to adjust my glasses and the left lens popped out. Not only did the lens pop out but the frame itself broke right at the nose rest.
So I went out to my car to grab my prescription sunglasses. Ate the burger I brought home from Cahoots and watched TV a shade darker.
After searching my bedroom I found a very old pair of glasses that seems to have a stronger prescription than I have now. I’ve been wearing them an hour or so now and I’m beginning to get a headache.
I can’t complain too much I suppose. I made it through the day with a variety of annoyances but nothing life threatening or permanently debilitating. I do hope tomorrow is a little better.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I just did my taxes and I'm getting so much back in Federal taxes that I'm afraid I made some sort of mistake but I couldn't find anything wrong. I did my taxes online and the same data gave me a refund from the state for only $11.00, which is about right for me from state. I even included the $300 dollar tax rebate I got earlier in the year. I didn't realise that it was just an advance on my tax return and not some sort of free lunch. It was my understanding that we had a tax surplus and they were giving me money back. Apparently I was incorrect.
Even though I'm getting a good amount of money back the bastards still kept about $6,000. WOW! I never looked at it that way before. No wonder they take a bit out at a time and don't try to send you a bill at the end of the year. People would be rioting in the streets if they all really thought about how much of their hard earned cash goes to the Guv'ment. That doesn't include the nearly $2,200 in state taxes and the $900 in city/county taxes. JESUS CHRIST! Around $9,100 came out of my check to go to taxes. This isn't including Medicare and Social Security that I hope to benefit from one day.
Now I know why I was surprised to see how much I made last year. I'm not seeing nearly enough of it. Damn, I was happy about my return until I started putting the numbers together. Not to mention that they got all of the interest on that money while it was in their hands.
There is this guy at work who thinks that people don't have to pay taxes. That it isn't in the laws of this country to have to pay taxes. I have read some of the sites that talk about this and they all pretty much say that you have to fill out this form that claims that you are not elligible to pay taxes. It sounds to me like a good way to get the IRS to take away everything you own.
I may have to think about buying a toy and then putting the rest of my return in savings. Hmmmm... what do I want? I'll have to think about it.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I can't believe not one person sent me a question to ask Melly. I suppose I'll have to do all of the work myself. In case you still want to help me out, send me a question.
I'm keeping this one short because I got a copy of Medal of Honor and I want to play it. Maybe, I'll update the post in a while to tell you what I think of it.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
UPDATE: That game is pretty sweet. Its also hard as shit. Luckily it saves the game at fairly reasonable areas so you don't have to redo very big sections of the game.
I also wanted to mention that I got a bunch of Mardi Gras beads in today. I didn't get all that I ordered but I got quite a few. I got about 120 of the cheap beads which are still better than most of the beads you'll see in this town. I also got a dozen sets of big beads in 60" strands. I'm looking forward to it.
G'nite.

So I signed up for this Blog Insider thing. The object is to be matched up with another person who does a blog and swap 10 or 15 questions and post the questions and answers on your blog. I have several questions in mind but I was hoping on getting a little input from my audience. The person I've been matched up with is a woman who is due to have a baby Feb 10. The site is called daily sardonicism. She is soon to be a single mother and I'm a, so far, comfirmed bachelor. To summarize my feelings about kids, I will quote W.C. Fields, "Madam, there's no such thing as a tough child - if you parboil them first for seven hours, they always come out tender." Now, I don't hate kids like W.C. Fields did. As a matter of fact I have met several that I liked, especially with ketchup. This may be interesting.
Anyway, why don't you help me out. There are no real guidelines that I know of, other than it should be an opinion question or a personal experience question. Not anything like "Who is the King of Timbuktu?" I believe my first question to her will probably be, "What is your earliest memory?"
An odd coincident is that even though she lives in Texas she apparently knows Dodd. Either that or she likes his site because its the first site she has a link to on her page. This is a small world and getting smaller everyday.
While I'm thinking about it I think I will give my answer to that earliest memory question. Here is how I remember the incident. I was 2 or 3 and I was in my Uncle's backyard. I saw a TV sitting on a picnic table and I went to turn it on. Then I actually remember seeing stars. Not literal stars. It's more like when you really rub your eyes and you see all of the lights and colors that then fade away after you stop rubbing them. Here is the story my Mom tells. When I was 2 or 3 I was in my Uncle's backyard and there was this car radiator on a picnic table and I knocked it over on myself and it hit me in my forehead. I still have a scar where I got one stitch to close the wound.
Don't worry it didn't stop me from watching TV in the future.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I only saw the last half of the game but it was a good one. If you didn't care about the game and you don't happen to know who won, I'll fill you in. The Patriots won with a field goal in the last seconds of the game after the Rams tied the game with less than 2 minutes left. It was the most exciting Super Bowl I've seen in years.
Then the poker commenced. I was doing pretty well for a while. I had worked my way down to even and then I dealt a game of In Between. It was a very exciting game that had me up $40 and then down $50 at the end. Even though I lost it was still the most fun I had all night. The winner ended up pulling about a $150 pot. Not that, that was really the amount he came out ahead. A lot of that pot was money he had put in himself. So I can’t begrudge him too much.
I bet you’re thrilled by the retelling of this poker story. To tell you the truth In Between is the only game that really gets my heart pumping. Every other game may have its moments but nothing raises the blood pressure like In Between.
I believe the unofficial winner of the Chili Cook-off section of the evening was Danny’s chili. In my opinion, not only was it spicy but not too spicy, it also had the best flavor. This seemed to be the consensus out of the people I asked about it. If my informal pole isn’t good enough for you then the fact that Danny’s chili was the first to disappear should push the point home.
With the amount of chili that was consumed by my friends and I… Let’s just say, I wouldn’t want to hang around the pack of us at the Mag Bar tomorrow. Chili can do some foul things to the digestive system.
On that note…
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

So I hear there is some sort of big sports competition today. Ok... I know that the Super Bowl is today. I think The Patriots are one of the teams. I know the Steelers got beat a couple of weeks ago or so. The only reason I know this is because I have a few friends who are Steelers fans. I actually care more about the commercials than I do about the game itself. Especially now that adcritic.com has gone tits up.
For me, Super Bowl Sunday means that there will be less people on the road once the game starts. It also usually means the movie theatres are less crowded. Which is good because my friend Cherie and I still go eat lunch and check out a movie every Sunday. Yes, I will be going to a Super Bowl/Chili Cookoff/Poker Party. If it was just a Super Bowl Party and nothing else, I definitely would have to consider not attending. I will be arriving fashionably late but I will be there.
It's late and I should be getting to bed.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
