If you look at my pic of the day you'll see that I have apparently wore the same pair of contacts a little too long and I'm having some sort of reaction. I know it looks painful but it feels fine. Maybe slightly irrated. So I'm back wearing glasses for a few days and then I'll put in a brand new pair of contacts.

I finally watched the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas DVD I got the other day. I had seen the movie before but it had been a little while. I really loved the book. Seeing the movie again makes me want to break out the cigarette holder again. Hmmmm. A few Christmases past I gave a copy of the book to my cousin. She was a freshman in college and I felt that any person in college should have read it.

I asked her about it once but she said she hadn’t had the time yet with school. I never thought about asking her again. I really wanted to know what she thought about it. My impression of her has always been that she was a straight-laced catholic school girl who was into athletics and school and not much else.

Seeing the movie also makes me want to take some of my wilder stories and exaggerate the tales to Hunter S Thompson levels if I can possibly do so.

I’ve read interviews with Thompson and he has said that Fear and Loathing is basically fiction. There is some truth in it but it’s taken to the extreme. I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head. Maybe sometime this weekend I’ll post a Thompson style story here. I’ll have to put enough facts into the story so that the people who live here may think it really happened. We’ll see.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Here's a better version of that story with a pic.

Elderly man intervenes in bank robbery, saves some of the loot
I think this old guy is a bad ass. The guy was trained in hand to hand combat during WWII and you got to read this quote, "I was trained to kill and I've never been deprogrammed." The guy is 76 years old!

I want to see this guy fight Butterbean!

I'm running off to play some Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Busy week at work so far. Year end stuff just finally winding down.

I also got Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas the other day. Which I haven't watch yet. So no new commentary there. I just found out that William "The Refrigerator" Perry is fighting Butterbean.

The Refrigerator was a football player for the Chicago Bears back in the 80’s and Butterbean is just a big bald boxer who only fights losers. Usually the fights are only 4 rounds long. Butterbean does usually pummel his opponents into submission.

The boxer versus a football player in a boxing match. I’m sure it will be a fight to remember. (sarcasm) About as memorable as the fight between Rocky and Thunderlips in Rocky III.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I hate to admit this but I am a sucker for a good love story.

I also just got Moulin Rouge! the other day. I watched it when I got home from the Mag. I'm not going to go into the movie right now because I talked about it quite a bit when it first came out in theatres. If you liked the movie you should consider getting the DVD. It has a bunch of extra stuff.

I'm up a little later than I want to be...

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I just got Leon: The Professional on DVD. It has 24 extra minutes of footage. Most of the extra footage consists of Matilda going on hit jobs with Leon. Nothing that was gruesome or anything. It was just a 12 year old girl shooting a gun. She shot one person but the gun was loaded with paint balls. She didn’t actually kill anyone. She was only with Leon when he did it.

Which brings up another version of this film. I watch the television edit of The Professional a couple of months ago and they cut out every scene where Matilda held a gun. Certain parts of the movie made no sense because of this.

I am seriously asking this question. There is no sarcasm intended by this question. I really want an answer. Why is it wrong to show a 12 year old girl holding a gun? Maybe the question should be why is it more wrong for a 12 year old girl to fire a gun in the air than it is for a grown man to shoot 30 to 50 people.

Please answer this for me.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Bored Bored Bored!!!

I'm bored. I want a change. Being bored kind of reminds me of this Young Ones episode. Its called "Bored". Neal, Vivian, Mike and Rik are roommates and they are all horribly bored. There are several memorable scenes but probably the most memorable one is when Madness is playing a “House of Fun” at a local pub.

Neal, Vivian, Mike and Rik are walking to the pub as the band is playing and they keep walking by very interesting things. Like, free sex and money and assorted other great things. When they walk into the pub the band just finished playing and Rik walks up to the lead singer and says, “Do you know anything by Cliff Richard?”

The lead singer replies, “If you hum a few bars… I’ll smash your face!”

I need to mention one other little scene in this episode. In this same pub Vivian introduces his friends to his Mother in the way, “This is my friend Neal. This is my friend Michael and this is a complete bastard I know named Rik.”

I’m still bored.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

When I was coming home from the Mag, the snow was just starting to stick to the roads. Just barely stick in some spots.

I just came in from smoking a cigarette. I went out to enjoy the weather for a little bit. The snow is definitely sticking to the roads now, about an inch worth. I really love snow. I guess it has just carried over from when I was a kid and I loved sledding and especially getting out of school. There is still part of me that wants it to snow so badly that I could use it as a good excuse not to go to work.

Now today’s snow probably isn’t going to be the kind of snow that gets everyone trapped indoors but I’m going to give you my list of movies that are perfect for when your snowed in.

These are in no particular order:
The Shining
Fargo
The Ice Storm
The Thing
Alive
A Midnight Clear
Dead Poets Society
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
A Simple Plan
Grumpy Old Men

All would be good movies to watch when you’re in the middle of a snow storm.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
