Matt and I always get sentimental around the holidays.
This is the beginning of my holiday weekend. I have Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. I love holidays. Especially now when I’ve arrived at a place in my job where I actually get holidays off and I have a choice. Charter doesn’t have quite as many holidays as HSA did but I can deal with it.
The last time I was home was Thanksgiving and I rigged my Mom’s computer not to go to my website. Now the problem is that I never tested it. I’m pretty confident it worked but then there is that doubt in my mind. I don’t think she could find my site without someone telling her about it.
She had several questions for me when I was home last and I was sitting at her computer. Next to the computer was a notepad with her family and friends email addresses. I had to laugh. Here is this machine that can hold 20GB of information and she’s writing her address down on a notepad. I’m sure she’ll get used to it some day.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

You ever have one of those CD's that the first time you listen to it you don't really like it and you put it in the stack with your other CD's and pretty much forget about it?
That's what I did with Daft Punk's last album Discovery. Later I saw the anime' videos that were done for 4 of the songs. They played on Cartoon Network and I saw them online somewhere. Well one day I went to look for it and listened to it again. I just ripped it into mp3's and listened to it on my computer with some other music. When I'm on my computer and listening to music usually its just in the background and I don't really pay attention to it. If the song is good enough it breaks through my focus on whatever I'm doing. If one of the songs I'm listening to does that, I usually check the name of the song real quick to see which one it is. When you listen to 3 to 5 CD's in shuffle mode its hard to memorize names of songs.
Anyway to get to the point, the Daft Punk album is pretty damn good. There are several songs on the album that I like a great deal. Pretty much the first half of the album.
"One More Time", "Aerodynamic", "Digital Love", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", "Crescendolls", "Nightvision" and "Superheroes".
I feel that Daft Punk's flavor of techno is very influenced by disco which may put of some people but I think if you liked the last album you should definitely check this one out.
BTW. The main subject of conversation at work and at the bar has been Lord of The Rings. Go out and see it. Either everybody has been brainwashed or this is one of the best movies ever made. At the very least it is the best fantasy film ever made. I can say that confidently. With Conan the Barbarian being a close second.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Overheard at the Mag, "I suddenly felt a piercing pain in my scrote."
Speaking of scrote, my testicles are perfectly symmetrical, they bang together like Ben Wah Balls when I walk. Matt told me that his were perfectly symmetrical also but he had to get plastic surgery to achieve the perfection. Mine are au natural, baby!
Speaking of prostates, Laura and I were discussing going to the doctor. Most women go to the doctor at least once a year. Men usually only go when they are very sick or injured. I mention this for a couple of reasons. A certain percentage of women get breast cancer and then there is a certain percentage of those women who die from the it. Coincidentally, these numbers also apply to prostate cancer which is obviously a male thing. Men also get testicular cancer.
For as long as I can remember women have been told to examine there breasts and get checkups regularly. Men on the other had receive little encouragement to take care of their health. So I propose a way to break down the barriers and bring us all together on preventing cancer. Men you need to make yourselves available to women for free breast exams. It might take 20 minutes out of your day to carefully go over every centimeter of breast tissue. Be thorough this could possibly save a woman's life. Now you women have a job also, you need to make yourselves available to examine men's testicles and prostate. Gently kneed the testes and feel for small lumps. Then insert your finger and examine the prostate.
That has been MrQuick's health corner.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring at the IMDB
The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring the Official Website
Cyrus, Tracy, Matt and I got tickets to see the 12:01AM showing of LOTR. It was great. I almost... almost wish that I had never read the book just so that I could see it without knowing what was going to happen. Some of the scenes exactly matched what I had always imagined in my minds eye. The movie follows the book pretty well in my opinion. Some changes have of course been made. The book on tape is like 6 hours and that is also abridged. Changes would have had to be made.
On the subject of how it works as a movie I must say that I've never been in a 3-hour movie that held the suspense level as well as this film. The special effects are amazing. The way they make these actors look the appropriate sizes is also pretty good. The first few scenes did look a little odd to me but later it seemed to become flawless and I would forget that these people were not really that big.
I read many reviews of the film and I had gotten to the point where I was afraid to see the movie because I was worried that I had built the movie up in my mind to a level that would be hard live up to. The only negative thing I've heard about the movie came from the Tolkien Fundamentalist who treat the books like they were holy words passed down from God Himself. "You left this character out!! Blasphemy! Arwen didn't do that! Heretic!"
Its a fine film and I recommend it.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I got to keep this short because I've got an early appointment for a checkup with my doctor.
First, I still haven't heard from Amazon about their fuck-up. Its been almost 24 hours now. But since it was a Sunday I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Second, Return to Castle Wolfenstein kicks ass. This view may be a little skewed because I have yet to play the single player game. I have continuously played multiplayer online. A friend of mine put up a server but I'm wondering if his machine has the testes to pull it off. When there was a crowd we ended up with some severe lag time.
Third, my friend Laura is in town. The girl that also happens to be the pic of the day. She is having a birthday this week and she want to try to get her friends together tonight (Monday). I'm not sure if her friends check out this space but I guess we shall see. She plans on being at the Bristol early in the evening and then heading down to the Mag later. So if your a friend of her's stop buy and say hi.
Good Night. (I think its early enough to just say Good Night.)

Amazon.com has fucked up.
I bought a lot of shit through them this year and they have not made me happy. Part of the problem is that a few things I ordered they now say won't get here until early January. They had to special order it for some reason. I can deal with that. There are a few things that didn't get here in time for last night but I could have ordered some of the things earlier.
The email I sent to Amazon.com should explain it:
Subject: Received Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Item
I ordered this Captains chair.
I even had you gift wrap it.
So I take the present YOU gift wrapped to a party and gave it to a friend. I was very surprised when he opened it and it was a skateboard.
This skateboard.
I've seen people sit on skateboards but I don't think it is a good substitute for a chair. I have already missed the opportunity to give the appropriate gift at our Christmas party but I want it replaced as soon as possible.
I must admit I can find some humor in it when I think of some kid who may be expecting a skateboard for Christmas and end up with a folding chair.
Please respond as soon as possible.

I have another holiday hijinx. I ordered Danny the first season of The SImpsons on DVD. I just hadn't received it yet but it is supposedly already on the way here. Well, Matt bought it for me also. Which isn't a big deal, obviously. So later, Danny shows up and gives me his gift which is the first season of The Simpsons on DVD. He tells me that if I already have it he still has the receipt and he can return it. He asked me to let him know.
I sheepishly said, "Well, uh, Matt just gave it to me tonight."
He then tells me, "That's fine. I may just keep it for myself."
That's when I'm forced to say, "Um well, that's actually what I ordered for you."
So I just gave Danny the copy he had just given me and I guess I'll return the DVD from Amazon or possibly save it for a birthday present or something.
Ahhhh. Christmas time.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
