I have sort of a grab bag of things for you today.
First of all, if you have a fast connection or a lot of patience you need to download Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips. Its a real Bugs Bunny cartoon that you will never see on TV. The gist of the story is that Bugs lands on a Pacific Island and comes across a Japanese soldier. The World War II stereotype, big buck teeth and thick glasses. He gets rid of him and then beats this big sumo wrestler. Then the island is swarmed with Japanese soldiers, Bugs gets an idea, he starts selling the soldiers ice cream bars with handgrenades hidden in each one. As he sells them he keeps using racial slurs like, bowlegs, monkey face, and slant eyes. I'm not sure if I've ever seen this one before. If I have, I was very very young.
Secondly, I don't know why I thought of this but I have my laundry basket for about 17 years. My mother bought it for me in the fall of 1985. I have carried it with me where ever I went. College, the array of cities I lived in when I was moving around for the movie theatres and several years here in good Old Louisville. Other than some pictures and my cd's and tapes, I don't think I have anything else that has stuck with me as long.
Its about to fall apart but maybe I'll try to hold on to it until it turns 21. That seems like a good age.
I had one other thing to talk about but I'm drawing a complete blank. So...
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Apparently I was misinformed on Todd's arrival date. He will not be here until Tuesday.
So Tuesday is Pimp Night and the plan is to head down to PT's.
I have to go now because I need to install some "acquired" software.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

The plan for Monday... Todd Tucker is going to be in town and he suggested to make it Pimp night. The plan is to get a bunch of people together dressed up, with a lean toward pimping, and go down to PT's. Matt and I are getting prepared tomorrow. Heading down to NY Fashions where I need to find a fly hat to go with my big white suit. It should be fun. What else is going on, on a Monday night?
This is going to be a friggin' crazy month at work. This is the month were we have to do or get ready to do all of our end of the year shit. Its already starting to get hectic.
Here is a bonus link of the day for you. Just in case some of you don't visit BaldMafia.com. Make sure you click on the Final Fantasy Thriller link. Its a big file But I think its worth it. You can also find links to the new Star War trailers.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Its late and my contacts are glued to my eyes again. I went to work, did laundry and played more GTA3. I'm going to have to start doing something to talk about or this space is going to get more boring than it already is.
Apparently most of my friends are either hooked on GTA3 or Civilization 3. I really don't like those kind of games that much. Every once in a while I play a game that catches my attention and I play one game that I enjoy but then after I finish I don't want to have to rebuild everything again. The best time I ever had at one of those micro managing games was SimCity. I played a game where the city came into perfect balance. Crime was low, the traffic was no problem, taxes weren't too high, everyone was happy and my approval rating was good. I let the game run by itself for about 8 hours and everything took care of itself after that point, of course it is kind of boring after a while.
So I have one closing question for you people. Video games, art or not art? At this time, film is considered an art form. There are some crappy films, just like there are bad paintings and sculptures. But when the cinema first started it was more of a novelty. In 20 years, will video games be discussed as seriously as other art forms?
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I didn't do shit today except play video games.
I slept late, I then read for a while in bed. I then got up and went and played Grand Theft Auto 3 all friggin' day. I later went to the Mag for an hour or two and went over to Mark's to play more Grand Theft Auto 3. Cyrus has become addicted also. Any other game falls to the wayside. There are other fun games but once you start GTA3 your addicted at the first taste.
I had gotten stuck on a couple of missions last week and I was getting burned out, but after a break of a couple of days I was back and kicking ass again.
I'm starting to fear that all I'm talking about is this game... Matt made a comment the other day when Mark and I were discussing the game, "You ever have two friends discover crack on the same day, 'Man, that crack is some good shit!' 'Yeah, I love that crack!'"
He has a point. I figure after a couple of weeks or so I'll have beaten the game, but I'm not in a hurry to do so.
The only problem I have with all of this GTA3 is that since I didn't do anything else its hard to come up with something to talk about so I'll have to go to something i did yesterday. Cherie and I went to see The Man Who Wasn't There. I thought it was great. I'm looking forward to seeing it again because for me I usually enjoy the second viewing of a Coen Brothers' movie even more than the first one.
It is one of their more subtle films. The main character is played by Mr. Angelina Jolie, oops, er, Billy Bob Thorton. His character barely speaks through most of the movie except in narration. James Gandolfini is also very good. It's definitely worth seeing.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I did it. I put Linux on my laptop and it went almost flawlessly. My only problem now is trying to figure out how to use the shit. Even SuSE which is supposed to be one of the more user friendly versions of Linux isn't that intuitive. The basics are no problem but trying to find a decent ftp client that works or a replacement for Frontpage. I got an email suggesting that I use a Windows emulator to run the programs I need. Which is what I may have to do.
I left the Mag early so I can't comment on the whole evening but when I was there it seemd like everyone was in some sort of funk. It could have just been Roy and myself but I don't know. We both left real early.
My eyeballs are about to fall out because I keep staring at these computer screens.
That's enough for today.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Well, I've decided to take another stab at Linux. Don't get me wrong I love Windows XP but I just don't want to be completely reliant on Microsoft.
I'm going to try SuSE 7.3 Professional. I'm going to leave my main machine alone because I'm a little afraid of trying to do a dual boot with XP.
I have a laptop that I plan to put it on. Laptops are notorious for being difficult and if it goes on that smoothly then I should be able to put it on any other machine. My only real problem is finding an HTML editor for Linux that I'll like as much as Frontpage.
I know this has been a computer geek post but I am what I am.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
