Nikki and I went to see Rock Star starring Mark Walhberg.
Even though the there were a few entertaining moment I have to suggest that you skip it.
Here is the basic plot. Its the 80's and hair bands rule. One of the biggest bands is call Steel Dragon. Steel Dragon is so big that it has tribute bands. More than one in the same city as a matter of fact. Wahlberg plays the lead singer of a tribute band and is obsessed with the band and trying to do the covers exactly as the original. Including, piercing his nipple when he hears the lead singer of Steel Dragon has done so.
The lead singer of Steel Dragon is considering leaving the band. The rest of the band get a hold of a video tape of one of Wahlberg and decide to replace the singer with Wahlberg. You can probably see where it goes from there, fame, sex, drugs, women, the rise and then the fall.
If this sounds good to you then go and find out for yourself.

I love it. Fatboy Slim almost never gets played on the radio. (At least not in Louisville.) It just goes to show how corporate radio sucks.
I'm having a great time.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Last night, I got all my shit together including filling up my Zippo. I got about 5 hours of restless sleep and headed to the airport.
The plane was packed, I think that there was only one empty seat on the plane. About halfway through the flight, I started to feel a little uncomfortable on my right thigh. The pocket there had my cell phone and a pack of cigarettes and my lighter. I figured that I had a zit or something that this stuff was pressing against.
Nope, remember when I mentioned the full Zippo. That's right, I was getting a chemical burn from the lighter fluid. No real damage done but it made the last 20 minutes ofmy flight seem a lot longer.
Nikki, was waiting for me at the gate when I got off the plane. I had arrived safely except for an aching in my pants.
Later.

Including myself about 12 of us went down to the Main Street Lounge.
First, let me mention the comment I heard from a few of my friends. "It's too expensive." Drinks are expensive there. "What's the cover for?" There was a $5.00 cover and no live music. Not even a DJ. The bartender played cd's.
These are all negatives. The one positive thing we could agree on was that they had gotten rid of the Sparks smell. That was a feat in itself. I imagined that they laid out about 10,000 pine tree are fresheners and put the new hardwood floor ever the top of them. Sparks did have some funk going on.
I personally thought that they made the place look really good. I did like the large selection of couches and comfortable chairs. The music was good overall.
It’s definitely a couple’s bar. Low lights lots of dark corners. It was almost hard to believe that the place used to be Sparks. I had a good time but I've heard that Fridays and Saturdays are packed and I don't think I'd like the place as much on those days.
I left with a positive experience but I don't think I'll be down there again in a while. It kind of made me feel nostalgic for the glory days of Sparks.
My next post will be from Birmingham, AL.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I've got to keep this post short.
I've been trying to get a couple of things done before I leave Friday and I'm not going to have much time tomorrow (Thursday).
Basically, I just want to let those people who are interested know that several of my friends and myself are heading down to the Main Street Lounge. I know several people are planning to meet at the Mag at 1AM. I'm not exactly sure of my itinerary but I figure I'll be down to the Main Street Lounge by then.
See you tomorrow.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Well, I've decided to make a run down to Birmingham this weekend and visit my favorite expatriate, Nikki. I’m going down Friday and should be coming back Monday. I plan to take pictures down there and I’m bringing my laptop so I should be able to update my site with little problem.
I got an email from her the other day and it sounded like she had a bad week. Plus, I’ve been in kind of a blah mood for a little while. I could use a mini-vacation myself.
I still plan on going down to the Main Street Lounge Thursday night so if you want to join us feel welcome.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Thursday, I plan on taking a trip down to the Main Street Lounge.
The Main Street Lounge is the bar that opened up in place of Sparks. Sparks was the place that I called my home away home before I even heard of the Mag Bar. So Thursday, I'm going to go down and see what they did to Sparks.
It kind of reminds me of when I used to drive by the house I lived in the first seven years of my life. The first big change that I noticed was this big pine tree that was in the front yard was cut down. Then years later they put up aluminum siding. It got to the point that I could barely recognize my old house.
If anybody else want to run down there and check it out, I got off at midnight. I'll probably run down there by 1AM. I don't think I'll be spending the whole evening there.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I'm kind of surly at the moment. Basically, its because I have to work on Labor Day. I do get to take extra time off later to make up for Labor Day but it still hard to get motivated to go to work on a Holiday, when you know that most of your friends are off from work. On top of that Monday is normal a day off for me anyway. So not only am I working on a holiday but I'm working on my day off. A double-whammy!
The only good thing is that I should have plenty of time to get caught up on some grunt work I need to do because holidays are normally very slow.
Work...
Anyway, I've been feeling sorry for myself I guess. I've been thinking about some of the negative aspects of my life lately. Taking stock, if you will. I should be out of my slump pretty soon.
There are less than two months until Halloween. Every year I want to do something big and every year I wait until the last minute and end up doing something goofy. I know what I want to do, I just need to start getting organized and pull together the necessary costume. This year I'm not planning anything big so I should be able to pull it off.
That was a sort of chaotic post... ah, well.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I forgot to mention last night that I posted the new Babe of the Month.
I can't think of a damn thing to talk about. Probably because I'm also watching Saving Silverman with Jack Black.
So I'm going to keep watching this movie and apologize for the short post.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
