I am depressed.

I had a good time at the bar. I real good time actually. I got home and watched a little TV and I heard the news. Carroll O'Connor has passed away. I kind of give my age away a little but when I was a kid I used to love to watch All In the Family. I thought that show was hilarious. In some ways that show is probably a little responsible for me being as open minded as I am. If what you do doesn't bother me or someone else, I couldn't care less.

The "Archie" character was a bigot and wouldn't tolerate anything outside of the "norm". Carroll O'Connor gave this intolerant man a human face that even though you knew the way he thought was at the very least, flawed, at his core he was a good man. He believed in family, friends, God, and the United States of America. Right or wrong. He believed in family enough to take in his daughter and the son-in-law he hated. Even though he didn't go to church he believed in God so much that he kidnapped his grandson and baptized him because he was afraid for his soul. He would have done anything he could to help his friends.

I realize that Carroll O'Connor was not Archie Bunker, but he did bring Archie Bunker to life.

The world has lost a fine actor and a good man.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

The Purest Water Has No Fish

What does the sentence above mean to you? My take on it is that you can be too good. You must achieve a balance. This can be applied in almost all aspects of life.

For the first time in months, I didn't go down to the Mag bar. I got home and started to watch a little TV and then I got on my computer for a while. I had every intention of going to the Mag. I started to read a book and then I got back on the computer and the next thing I know its 4:30 AM. I'm sure I missed one of the most exciting nights in the last year.

Cyrus sent me another video. I'm just posting this one because I thought it was particularly cool. I'd like to see what the whole story is about. Its like some sort of high-tech Tom and Jerry.

That's enough for tonight.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I was talking to Cyrus and Joey and somehow we stumbled onto the subject of the "Shut the fuck up!" sex. Basically, what that it means is that if you get pestered enough you finally have sex with someone just so they would "shut the fuck up" and leave you alone. Of course this usually happens when a guy keeps asking a girl for sex until they finally cave in just to shut the guy up.

Has this ever happened to you? If so let me know. I don't care if your a guy that finally gave it up or a girl who did.

On another subject, I've been thinking about the ending of Moulin Rouge. If you are planning on seeing the movie do not read any further. I give away the ending.

Here is the basics, the male lead, a penniless poet named Christian falls in love with the courtesan named Satine, who also falls in love with him. But there is trouble in paradise because the rich Duke wants Satine to be only his. He promises to make her a real actress and remodel the Moulin Rouge. In return for the Duke spending the money to remodel the Moulin Rouge and provide the money for the big show starring Satine. He wants Satine to be under a private contract with him and he wants the deed to the Moulin Rouge signed over to him. The owner named Zidler, agrees to this because he wants Satine to get what she wants and I guess he figures in the long run he will be better off because he will be running the new and improved Moulin Rouge. Plus I think he fears the Duke because the Duke is a little insane.

Satine has tuberculosis but doesn't know it. Zidler doesn't find out until after the deal has been made. Satine was going to run off with the Christian but Zidler told her that she was dying and that the Duke was planning on killing Christian if he came near Satine or the Moulin Rouge. Zidler convinces her that she must break his heart so that he will leave her and be safe. Satine goes to Christian and convinces him that the Duke's money is more important to her and that she doesn't love Christian.

In the final scene, Christian calls her a whore and pays her for the services she had given him. As he leaves she proclaims her love for him and to make a long story shorter, the bad guy loses. But does he? After they reunite, Satine suddenly dies from the tuberculosis. Here is what happened after her death. (The movie is told in flashbacks.) Christian spent at least a year in a drunken stupor. The Moulin Rouge is closed. Which means that everyone that worked there and put their lives in the place were forced out. Zidler lost his theatre which was basically everything he owned. Also Christian probably spent the rest of his life pining over this woman. Comparing every women he tries to get close to, to the "perfect" Satine. All of this happened because she didn't want to hurt Christian.

If she would have kept her mouth shut she still would have died. The Moulin Rouge and the cast of characters would still be there. Christian would probably be bitter about women for the rest of his life but he wouldn't have this picture of an "ideal" woman in his mind.

My thought is that she was a selfish bitch. She hurt all of these people for what ended up being 1 minute of happiness.

Still though, I look at what I wrote about the movie and I have to say that I still liked it. Sometimes I'm a sucker for a love story, what can I say?

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

A while back, I posted a video that Cyrus had made. I thought it was well done for what it was and I got several positive comments about it. It was a little video where he had put this little animated "monster" in a fight scene with Cyrus's cat. I especially like the sound effects.

Anyway, he said that he hadn't really intended for me to post it. He thought it was basically a little joke video he had made. So he wanted to do another video which showed more of what he actually does. Here it is. This is definitely a much slicker video clip. Cyrus does character animation and you can see that this took more effort. You can see the way the character reacts to the weight of the object he is holding. I liked it but I must admit I enjoyed the humor of the other clip more.

So I have been told through a third party that Mark may have got sketched out about me announcing his visit on my webpage. This doesn't really make any sense since I asked him if I could post it before I did. I know Mark is a little weird about these things sometimes, so I specifically asked him about it. I heard he was in Miami but I don't have any other details. At this point I'm posting what I can because he pissed me off a little. Even after all of this bullshit I'd like to see him but I don't think that is going to happen on this trip.

Some other time maybe.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

"There once was a man from Nantucket…"

Whenever you see the above line it means that I am stumped about what I should post. Writer's Block, essentially.

I really don't understand why that is the line that pops into my head, every time I can't come up with something to talk about. The sad thing is that this is not the first time I have mentioned this. Which goes to show you how bad it is for me today.

So I will just give the details of my day. I got up and checked my email around 2PM and then I screwed around on the computer for a little while. I then watched TV for a while. I took a nap and missed a phone call from Matt. He was going to see Joe Dirt at the Village 8 at 5:25. I got the message right before show time.

I ended up eating dinner with Tina, Ben and some of Tina's friends at the pizza pub in New Albany called Rich O's. They specialize in foreign beers. As a matter of fact, if you order a domestic they will try to talk you out of it and if you insist they make fun of you and charge you quadruple. I do like that attitude.

The food was pretty good. I got a small thin crust pizza with roasted garlic, sliced tomatos, green peppers and Italian sausage. I had ordered banana peppers instead of green peppers but it was still good.

I went to the Mag later and got into some pretty good conversations with Mike, Kent, Adam, Danny and Roy but for the life of me, I can't remember the evening with enough detail to make it worth posting. I must be getting old.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Overheard at the bar the other night, "I'm gonna chop that midget's knees off!"

Well, Mark didn't show up. First I need to make it clear that the above quote has nothing to do with Mark. Mark may be a little short but he is definitely not a midget.

This guy I know went to a party. A midget was throwing the party. I really don't want too get into to much detail but the midget insulted the guy I know and then the guy insulted the midget and the midget grabbed a sword or machete and tried to chop him down. One of the midget’s friends grabbed a lead pipe and went after him also. He made it away from the party without any visible injury but he was not a happy camper.

I don't really know much more and I don't want to speculate about what happened later in the evening. I do know the guy I know was trying to get a posse together and go back to the party to kick the midget’s ass.

Anyway, like I was saying Mark didn’t show up. I want to take this moment to call him a bitch and challenge him to a fight. He has to come here for the fight though. If he would actually show up for the challenge I would forgive him and drop the challenge.

I have mentioned in this space, that Mark is not the most reliable of people but I thought he might come threw on this one. Actually knowing him, he probably has a good story about why he didn’t show up. It probably has something to do with a girl or the police.

I’m sure I’ll hear the story in few days.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I went and saw Moulin Rouge a week or so ago. I liked the movie. It is a musical which may scare away alot of people. Part of the fun of the movie though is spotting what song they are singing. The entire soundtrack are covers except for one or two. Most of the songs are from the last 20 years even though it takes place at the turn of the last century, 1899-1900.

One of the subjects of the movie is the Bohemian movement in Paris at the time. They called themselves the "Children of the Revolution". They believed in 'Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Love!'

I was thinking that it may have been a good time to live, but then I started to think about the hippies here in the US. You could say that they had the same dogma. Absinthe was the drink of choice for the Boho's (Bohemian's), which is known to have its hallucinogenic properties. The hippies were into LSD. I don't think I need to mention the common link there.

I would like to think that the Boho's weren't just dirty tree-huggin', dirt-munchin', druids like the hippies are.

I just realized that I have no idea where I was going with this.

I give up... I need to get to bed.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
