Hello from Birmingham!
Nikki and I are having a great time. She showed me around where she works. We then went to the restaurant called The Mill. We ate on their patio. I know it may sound tame and it was, but we were outside in this nice neigborhood on a busy corner but not too busy. There were trees everywhere for shade in the air was cool but not cold. We spent the whole afternoon sitting outside and catching up.
Later that night we went to a bar called the Blue Monkey. It was a dark bar that was broken up into many smaller rooms. Each room had several couches. It was very cozy but the drinks were pretty expensive.
I'm really enjoying hanging out with Nikki again.

I made it to Birmingham in one piece. My flight left on time and we arrived about 10 minutes early.
I video taped the takeoff and landing. I must admit in some sort of sick way I was hoping something would happen so that I would have it on tape. Nothing that would get me killed, just a little life threatening.
Nikki met me at the airport and I got to see her neighborhood and her apartment. At a glance Birmingham isn't that much different than Louisville. They have a skyline! Huntsville had like a two building skyline. The weather is great! Its sunny and the temp is around 65 deg F.
Well, I'm on Nikki's computer at work and I need to go.
So far so good.

Here's the deal! I am leaving today to visit Nikki in Birmingham. I should be able to update my posts in this section on a daily basis, but the rest of my site will be hard to update without special software. Not impossible, but damn it I'm on vacation! You've got to give me a break. So today, I'm posting three pictures of the day. The pictures work well as a series anyway. Your going to be on your own until Saturday.
But like I said, I will try to post this Latest News section, everyday. The timing may not be as consistent but I will make posts.
I still have a little packing so I'm going to have to cut this short.

So today I'm supposed to pick up a motorcycle from my friend James.
He has this 650 Honda that he doesn't want because he isn't into the cruiser style of bike. He said he'd give it to me as long as I promised to fix it up. He told me that at the most it should cost no more than $1000 to fix. I'm thinking... a grand for a bike. Hell yeah!
So today I need to run a few errands to get ready for my trip to Birmingham and then meet up with James and get the bike over to Magnum Cycles. This is their busy season so it may take a month to get the bike back. I've waited this long, another month is no big deal. I don't even have my license yet anyway.
Monday was a good day. I went and did some shopping, just clothes and some assorted stuff. Then I went to dinner with a friend of mine. We went to Jack Frye's. Jack Frye's has the best pork chop I have ever tasted. I don't normally get pork chops when I eat out but when I go to Jack Frye's it the only thing I will order.
The pork chop is at least 2 inches thick. It’s served with sautéed diced new potatoes, mushrooms, roasted cloves of garlic and asparagus tips. It is heaven on Earth. It would be good enough to turn kosher people to swine.
If you ever go to Jack Frye’s you have to get the pork chop, it’s better than steak.

I saw the video for Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice (high speed) (56K).
The video has Christopher Walken in it and you should really check it out. Christopher Walken is the only person in the video and he is in the video from beginning to end. I don’t really want to tell you what its about because it would be difficult for me to do it justice.
I also bought a new CD today. The band is Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, the album name is Blow in the Wind. It’s a punk band that did a bunch of covers from some songs from the 60’s. Blowin’ In The Wind, Sloop John B, Stand By Your Man, Runaway, and 9 other songs.
The band is an “all-star” punk band. For me the most famous guy is Fat Mike from NOFX. The rest of the band consists of Spike Lawson, Joey Cape, Jack Jackson and Dave. I don’t know who Dave is… according to the liner notes the band never bothered to learn his last name even though they’ve done 4 albums.
I must admit its just some lighthearted fun. I doubt if this album will be remembered for the years to come but it is sure entertaining for the moment.
It was a good day. The only downer was that no one died on The Sopranos, but at least one guy got his ass kicked and Tony got laid. Plus a scene took place at the Bada Bing which is always fun.

Something over heard at the bar...
This beautiful young woman walks into the bar with this fairly large punk rock girl with all kinds of metal in her face and her earlobes stretched out. The beautiful woman sits at the bar and the punk rock girl goes to get drinks at the drink station. This redneck that was sitting at the bar looks at the beautiful young woman and says...
"So, um... are you her bitch?"
I am officially on vacation! I don't have to be back to work for a week and 2 days. I am a happy man.
I'm so happy that I went to an after hours and I don't feel like typing anymore tonight. I hope you liked the very short story and I'll see you tomorrow.
