I was bored the other day and I decided to see what I could find out about the Mag Bar from the internet.
The first page I found was from some Ohio State student who is from here. He apparently loves the place. It must have been a while since he has been to the Mag because there is no longer any Frank Sinatra on the jukebox.
The next site is OldLouisville.com. They don't seem to care too much for the owner. You can't really tell from this review but this same site used to have a slightly harsher review that was alot more critical of the owner.
The LEO gave the Mag 3rd place as the Best Pickup Bar in Louisville. Behind number 1, Phoenix Hill and number 2, Jim Porters Good Time Emporium.
I found this page that refers to the Mag as being "eclectic and weird". But its a link to another site that is no longer in exsistence. It was a page that was run by Hard Times Magazine. But Hard Times itself has gone the way of the dinosaur.
Of course I also found many references to my site. Because as you can tell I talk about the place alot myself.
That's all for today.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I've been spending most of my extra time fooling around with Adobe's Premiere. I still don't know much but I'm starting to get the hang of some of it. The plan right now is to post a short clip at least once a week. I'll try to keep it down to 1MG for all of the 56ker's out there. Also because I only have a finite amount of space I won't be archiving the videos. So you'll have to check out the video section once a week.
I've only had the video camera out a couple of times but I'm amazed by some of the reactions I've gotten. The other night I was shooting some footage of some friends and these two guys who I don't know wanted me to get a shot of them. I did it because I figured I could use it to make fun of them in this space. Even though they will never see it, they wanted to be on camera.
I never got that reaction from my still camera.
I have another friend who admited to me that he hates having his picture taken but he can't help but be a ham for a video camera. Some people tend to clam up and others start to put on a show.
One friend of mine who has a pretty sharp tongue seemed to be almost exactly the same as he is off camera except that his tongue may have been even sharper.
Anyway, I probably won't be going on about this for much longer. As soon as I get used to the new toy I'll probably just post the videos with out much comment.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Cyrus gave me Premiere and I'm to busy trying to figure this shit out.
See you tomorrow.
BTW I posted a smaller AVI version of the Michael movie.
Let me know if you have trouble viewing them.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Well the time has arrived. Scott gave me the Mardi Gras movie. Here is the section where I'll be posting my videos. BTW. The crown I'm wearing in the video was made by a friend of mine named Gloria. The sad thing is I had to give it back.
I have also posted one of my new videos. I'm still working on a balance of good picture and sound quality and a reasonably small file. First off, I don't want people to have to take a day to download the movies and second, I don't want my site's bandwidth to go so high that I'll have to start spending more cash to keep up the videos. So I'll never have more than one or two videos up at a time.
The second video is only 12 seconds long and its 3.5mg. Like I said, I'm still working on the file sizes.
I had a pretty full day. I saw 9 o'clock this morning. I didn't even know they had a 9 o'clock in the morning. I thought 9 o'clock was at night. Go figure.
I really needed to take my car and get my brakes fixed. They went from squeaking to grinding. Luckily that only cost me about $150 to replace the pads and the rotors. John at GTI called me and told me that the rotors needed to be replaced but that for some reason the rotors for my car were incredibly cheap, only $26 a piece. I've had brake work done on other cars before and I couldn't believe it.
I went to see V.A.S.T. at Jillian's. Pretty good band, very bad venue.
That's it for tonight.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I didn't go out tonight because I think my brakes are about to go out on me. I have to get up very early and get them to the shop so that I might have the car back by the time I have to go to work. I tried to do it Monday but I hit the snooze so many times that the alarm stopped going off.
Sunday night, Roy and I were talking about the Taco Bell that was torn down. The one that's practically on the U of L campus. Roy said that one evening he went to the Taco Bell and there was a guy inside mopping up. This guy told him that they were closed. The very next day Roy went by and the Taco Bell had been completely torn down. Nothing left at all.
My question was, "Why was the guy mopping up then?"
Roy said the same thing. If the store was going to be demolished, why did it need to be clean? If you were that guy mopping and you knew that the store was going to be dust the next day, would you bother with the detail of mopping up? I don't really get it but maybe the guy was very anal about his work and figured if he was getting paid to clean up he would do a good job. I respect anyone who tries to do his job to the best of his abilities, but when the effort is completely pointless, I think it would be better to focus your attention on something that is not so futile.
Speaking of futility, you know what they built where that Taco Bell was?
A Taco Bell.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I stayed up too late playing with my video camera and then I started playing Counter Strike.
I have to get up early and get my brakes fixed. I'm going to try to run by the doctor's so I can get my prescriptions.
If I want to do these things I need to get to bed. I have another video to post which is longer in duration but it is also a big file.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I got a new toy today.
I bought it to take on my trip to Costa Rica. Not everything is finalized but I hope to go in early April possibly late March. For the trip and for my personal amusement I purchased a digital video camera. If I make a nuisance of myself let me know. I don't plan on bringing it out that often.
We need to do some short stupid movies. I wouldn't mind posting a movie once a week. I do would have to watch my bandwidth a little more carefully if I started posting movies.
I got comments from yesterday's post urging me in both directions but most people thought I should go to..... Costa Rica!!! I have my eye on some really cheap plane tickets out of Miami. I just need to find cheap tickets to Miami.
Here is the first movie I have ever posted. First, I must say that I haven't gotten this down very well yet. The movie is only a couple of seconds long and for some reason it is 10MB. When I perfect this I'll post more. If you have a slow connection I can tell you right now that it is not worth the download. But if you have a fast connection it my be kind of fun. All it is, is a shot of Cyrus making a face into the camera. This link will only be good until Monday.
UPDATE: I got the file down to 1MG.
