I got to see an old friend of mine today. Donald Purvis. Donald is one of the best tattoo artists in the area. He owns Asgard Ink in New Albany. He was out of commission for a while but he's back and cooking with gas. Once he gets caught up on all of his old clients who want their pieces finished you should look him up and get some work done.
I meet Donald when he worked at Tattoo Charlies on Berry Blvd before they built the new shop. The new shop which has been open for many years now. Anyway, I started to get a lot of work done there and I would even come down and hangout in my spare time. On a couple of occasions he offered to teach me how to tattoo. I told him that I didn't know how to draw. His response was that you don't need to know how to draw. A lot of tattoo artists get by just knowing how to trace and fill in.
The problem is I wouldn't let those kind of tattoo artist touch me so I didn't want to be one of them.
Sometimes I think about going back to Donald and see if he would still teach me how to do it but I don't think I have the descipline or the focus. I can barely type a sentence without having to backspace and fix a typo.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Matt and I went to West Coast Video on Hurstbourne Lane yesterday during our lunch break. They were having a "going out of business" sale and we figured we might be able to get a deal.
We noticed this video tape called The Beginner's Guide to the Internet starring John Turturro.
Since when did John Turturro start make educational videos. It must have been during his lean years. The reason I bring it up is that its just so obsurd. DO you think of John Turturro when you want to get online. I just don't associate John Turturro with technology.
It would be like putting out tapes like these: "Bass Fishing starring Crispin Glover", "Learn to Play Blues Guitar starring Dennis Hopper", "Conversational French starring Keanu Reeves"
What a wacky world... Someone ought to sell tickets.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

For those of you who have never been to the Mag I have a little story to tell you about the character of the bar.
About 3 years ago on a random very busy weekend...
Mark was bartending and he was working his ass off. As were all of the bar backs. Anyway this woman who was alot snootier than most of the women that come to the bar. She looked like she had a little money and she thought she was better than everyone else.
This woman kept trying to cut in front of other people at the serving line. Mark basically told her she was going to have to wait her turn. At one point she actually went behind the bar and told Mark to fix her a drink. It was at this point Mark told her to get the fuck out. She refused to leave and went over by the jukebox. We believe she kicked the jukebox because at that moment the song skipped.
I was by the front door and I hear Mark yell, "Get this cunt out of my bar!"
I head torward the jukebox and say to Mark, "Which cunt?"
He grabs the mic and says loud and clear over the loudspeaker, "The CUNT! The CUNT in front of the jukebox!"
It was easy for me to spot her because she turned around so fast that I thought she was going to fall over. I get to her and start trying to get her out of the bar. She's yelling at me and yelling about Mark and giving me all kinds of shit. I finally talk her into going outside to talk.
As we got to the door Mark had another surprise. When we got to the door Mark had got all of the guys at the corner of the bar to turn and say, "Goodbye whore!"
She spun around again and I had to spend a few more minutes trying to get her outside.
So now we're outside and her and her friends are reading me the riot act. I let them yell but I'm not going to let her back in.
David the owner came out of the bar and they started to yell at him. He keeps listening and trying to calm them down a little. He says, "What can I do right now? I got a bar full of people I can't fire him."
It was about this point one of them said, "Well, we're never coming back here again!"
This is when David, "Well, I guess we're done then."
They were stunned and they started to say something else but David cut them off, "If your never coming back then we don't need to talk about this anymore."
They stormed off and the woman was stomping so hard she broke a heel and fell down when she was crossing the street.
The moral of the story?
At the Mag we don't like stuck up bitches. We don't care for stuck up dickheads either. But that's a different story.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Stop me if I've told this one before...
Many years ago during my summer of unemployment, before I started working at the Mag possibly.
The Mag Bar was closing and I was going to go to this party off of Bardstown Road. Ryan, Matt, Andy and Chad lived in this house apartment and they were having a party. This friend of mine was hanging out but I didn't want to bring him along because he was always the guy that got too drunk and you had to babysit him. I wasn't in the mood to babysit anyone that night.
I was about to leave and he asked me if I would give him a ride to the party. I told him I'd take him but I didn't know when I was going to leave and he would have to find a ride home himself. He agreed to the terms.
As soon as we hit Oak he starts to talk to me, and the vibe of the conversation was not good. He tells me that he wants to tell me something that he has never told anyone else. Something about when he was young. When he was 10 years old.
I didn't know exactly where this was heading but I knew I wanted no part of the conversation. I reached for the radio volume and said, "I love this part of the song!" and I turned up the sound.
I thought I was home free and then we got stuck at a train crossing.
After about a minute he turns down the volume and tells me that when he was 10, his older sister and he had sex. His sister was 16 or 17 at the time.
Now you might think I'm callous, but I really didn't want to know this much about this guy. We weren't THAT close. I was not in the right frame of mind to be hearing this kind of information.
Finally, the train goes by and we can get to the party. He keeps talking about it as we walk up the steps and he tells me that later he found out that she wasn't his real sister but that she was adopted. But at the time he didn't know that. He tells me that he thinks it might effect the way he interacts with woman.
I tell him he's probably right.
We go inside and the moment I walk in I shout, "I don't want anyone to tell me any more fucked up shit! If you have anything fucked up to say don't say it to me!"
The guy steps in grabs a beer like nothing happened and everyone looks at me like I'm crazy but nobody asked me what I was talking about.
Now you can call me a bastard for telling this story, but put yourself in my place. You just want to go to a party and have a good time. You do a favor for someone because you know them. You got a good vibe going and you don't want a buzzkill. Then someone tells you something that you can't get out of your head. Something horrible. In another situation you might be very sympathetic but this isn't the time or place.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I fucking LOVE the internet.
The faster it gets the more you can do with it!
I remember when I would have to wait a couple of minutes to see one picture. Later pictures came faster but sound was slow. It would take minutes to download a few seconds of sound. Then sound compression got better. But it would still take 20 minutes to download a 4 minute song.
This is where most people are at right now. The people who are really into the internet have gotten faster connections if they can. With cable modems and DSL most people can download music faster than they can listen to it. I can usually download 3 or 4 songs in the time it takes to listen to one.
Here is the latest thing I've come across though... Movies. People have full movies that you can download. Movies that they have probably copied from DVD's and converted into a smaller format. The quality does suffer a little but its still pretty good. Here is the problem... the files are usually over 500MG. In the old days I had a computer with only a 100MG harddrive. It takes a couple hours but I can download a whole movie.
I find that incredible. Video stores will be obsolete. Someday the cable companies will be able to send you ANY movie you want for a small fee. They will be able to send it to you from a big server that stores every movie available on video.
Sure right now its piracy and making these movies available violates copyright laws but this is the direction things are heading. Sooner or later someone will figure out who to sell it for those who don't want to go through the trouble of doing things in a shady way.
Ahh the Internet.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

C: "Catholic Girls give the best blow jobs."
Me: "Its because if they're going to burn in Hell for it they might as well do a good job."
Tonight was a very interesting night. I spent the evening with mostly Tracy and Cyrus and we talked about politics...
Dubya Bush is a the dumbest of the Bush boys. Apparently, Bush is planning on trying to get Federal Money for religious organizations. I wonder if he has ever heard about the separation of church and state. Maybe he should ask his advisors about that. I also like this article. Castro hopes that Bush isn't as stupid as he seems.
We talked about religion for a while. Personally, I would have an easier time believing if it just didn't seem to be such a fairy tale. I mean, why is Christianity a religion and the Greek gods a myth. Who's to say which of them are correct. If either of them are correct?
We even talked a little about quantum physics. I must admit my knowledge was severly limited.
So there are the Cliff Notes for the night. I hope your evening was as enjoyable.
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I can truthfully say that I am finally well.
I was kind of queezy most of the day but I felt like I was getting better. Its 5:30AM and I feel great. I'm not tired and I'm feeling good.
I got another batch of pictures back from www.ofoto.com. This time I also printed out some 5 x 7's and they also turned out pretty good. Here is a link to my shared photo album. If you click on the shared photo album link you can actually order pictures for yourself from my album. If you sign up you get 25 free 4 x 6 prints. All you have to pay for is postage.
I know I've been sounding like a commercial for this service. Its just that I've been so impressed by the quality of the prints. Plus I've had so many people ask me for copies of the pictures I've already had done. I just want to give you people a chance to order them if you want. Not only would you get 25 free prints but I wouldn't have to do it for you.
Anyway, I had a good time at the Mag tonight. I finally got to take some new pictures. I've been going back through older pics lately because I haven't been able to go out.
I actually stayed up late enough to use my usual exit line...
Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.
