As I thought the whole IT thing is sort of a scam.

I don't see how a scooter is going to change our lives.

I should have realized when something sounds too good it probably is. What I hate most is that I fell for it. I was pretty psyched to find out about this amazing mystery invention. Its almost like finding out Santa doesn't exist.

My computer had a major fuckup this morning and I spent tonight reinstalling my operating system and all of the other programs I had.

It time for bed.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

"It's IT!
What is IT?
It's IT!
What is IT?
You want IT now but you can't have IT."

Any self-respecting computer geek should have heard this story already. An inventor named Dean Kamen has invented something that a few technology bigwigs seem to think will live up to be the second coming. They say IT will change are lives. They say cities will have to plan around IT. They say so many things about IT but they don't say what IT is. They do say IT will be out in 2002.

This had better be pretty good. The hype is so big that if it doesn't live up to expectations there could be a backlash against IT. Supposedly the reason IT is a big secret is because the inventor doesn't want other corporations to put a bunch of engineers on similar projects and catch up to him.

For me the hype has gotten so big so fast that I think it may just be a big scam. The biggest scam of all time maybe.

Matt hopes its a flying car.

I just don't see what could be big enough that would change our lives overnight.

I haven't come up with my top ten movies of the 90's yet. I'll let you know.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Mark and I were talking about what we thought the best movie of the 90's was. I don't really think that I could narrow it down to just one. So tomorrow I will try to have a list for you. I would try to write it up now but we were just discussing this 20 minutes ago and I need to do a little research.

Whenever I post a link of the day I try to make it something that 56Ker's can get with out a day of downloading. I realize sometimes they do take a while. But I feel like I'm leaving off a bunch of sites that deserve a viewing. So here is a list of sites that you really need a fast connection to get the most out of:

www.romp.com
www.adcritic.com
www.icebox.com
www.atomfilms.com
www.heavy.com

I check all of these sites out once a week at least. If you know of any good sites that you need a high speed connection, send me the link.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Success!!!

I made a movie into an AVI that I can fit on one CD. The picture quality is not near as good as a DVD of course but the sound seems to hold up pretty well.
I did a couple adjustments and I broke the movie up into 30 minute chunks. I don't think the smaller files made a difference but its hard to say. Anyway, I'm just glad that I finally was able to figure it out.

Yesterday there was a shooting by the police on Dixie Highway. The basic story was that the cousin of a suspect in an assault of a police officer was driving the suspect's van. The police pulled over the van and tried to arrest the driver. The driver put the van in reverse and pinned a police officer between the van and another vehicle. The police shot the driver.

Until the driver tried to flee and ran into the officer he had done nothing wrong.

My opinion is that if I try to run over a cop with my car, expect to be shot at. Hell, if I try to run over a cop I expect to be killed. Whether I surrender or not, I expect to be killed by the police. If I try to kill a cop I expect that they will try to kill me. I would expect them to protect their own.

I don't care if the police had the wrong guy in the assault of the female police officer. They would have figured that out later if the guy hadn't tried to escape and run over a cop. I've had the police stop me and ask me questions. They always let me go on my way. I don't know why... maybe it was because I didn't try to run them down. It could have been because I answered their questions and was courteous.

These people have guns. One of my big rules is to be courteous to people who carry guns. I've been to the Knob Creek Shooting Range many times and I have never seen a fight out there. It could have been because everyone had guns and ammo.

Good NIght, Good Morning, whatever.

I did almost nothing today.

I basically spent most of my day trying to copy DVD's that I puchased and copying them into a format that I could store on my computer and not take up a quarter of my harddrive at the same time.

This is a much more complicated thing to do than it may sound. There are no simple programs out there that you can just say, "Copy this and save as this." At least not any free ones that I know of.

You have to take the movie off of the dvd first which is relatively easy but a 90 minute movie will be almost 4 GIG's of hard drive space. Then you have to try to convert it and the programs that are out there are not user friendly and each program needs other software components that you have to find somewhere else.

I made a semi-successful copy but there was no sound. But the file was small enough to copy to CD.

Enough geek talk.

I need to start bringing a note pad or something with me when I go to the bar. So I can write myself reminders of what I've done during the day or what I've talked about. I spent a good part of the evening talking to a couple of lovely ladies and I know we had some good conversation but the details are now a blur.

I remember talking about anilingus, not that it was a highlight of the conversation. I remember talking about dreams. Weird dreams we've had. No, none of the dreams were about anilingus. At one point we were talking about those moments when we forgot how to spell a certian word. Like the word "asked". Writing it down and then looking at it and looking at until it just doesn't look right. One time I forgot how to spell the word "of". I was sitting there thinking, "I know it isn't uv..."

I guess its a sign of aging.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I have to get up fairly early tomorrow (today) and take my car to the V.E.T. so I can pay 11 bucks for the city to hook a hose up to my tale pipe and tell me everything is fine.

It seems like I have to do this every 6 months. I really believe I do.

Vehicle Emission Testing is the biggest scam the city has going. No car made in the last 5 to 10 years should have any need for testing. Most cars made in the last 5 years don't really need a tune-up. Yet the gov'ment takes 11 dollars from every car owner, every year.

I bitch about this everytime I have to do it. Don't get me started on income taxes. The gov'ment "borrows" money from us all year long and then pays us no interest on the money the held on to all year. But if you didn't have them take out enough then not only do you have to pay them the difference which I understand but they charge you a penalty if you owe more than $800. At least that was what almost happened to me several years ago. I was $50 short of having to pay a penalty for owing the IRS too much money.

Good Night nurse!!!
Good Morning, whatever.

I just watched ANY GIVEN SUNDAY and I must say that it is a good fuckin' movie.

I got home from the Mag and it was just getting started. I never watched it when it first came out because I thought it would just be Al Pacino shouting for two hours. Don't get me wrong, Al Pacino yells a lot in this movie but it seems to make the things he whispers seem the more powerful. Camerion Diaz is a bitch on wheels. Its hard to believe she plays the sweet wholesome girl in almost every other movie she's in.

Jamie Foxx, L.L. Cool J and Lawrence Taylor all surprised me. Especially L.T., he is a very fine actor for a football player. I don't mean that sarcasticly either.

That movie is the reason I'm still up. Its almost 7am and I need to get to bed.

Good Night Good Morning, whatever.
