I've been trying to put together a cd that screams, "MAG BAR!" So far I got a pretty good list but I'm having trouble actually listening to the music because I have heard the songs way to much.

Here is my list of artists so far:
The Pogues
Rancid
Dead Kennedy's
The Pixies
Sugar
Social Distortion
The Ramones
Clutch
Tom Waits
Sunny Day Real Estate
Johnny Cash
Hank Williams Sr.

I'm not sure what else I want to include. There are a couple of other bands that I'm a little borderline about. Bands that get played alot now but haven't been played for most of the 5 years or so I've been going to and working at the Mag.

Send me some suggestions.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Science With My Nuts
The oceans have always been salty. Living things in the ocean depend on salt water and currents for food, transportation, and a livable climate. Question: why do things float better in salt water than fresh water?

What You Need:
1. My Nuts
2. two very large drinking glasses
3. tap water
4. table salt
5. a small scale

What You Do:
1. Fill one glass with tap water.
2. Fill the other glass with the exact same amount of tap water and add five heaping tablespoons of salt. Mix well.
3. Carefully lower my nuts into the tap water. What happens to my nuts?
4. Now lower my nuts into the salty water. Do my nuts react the same way?
5. Take out my nuts and set them aside. Weigh the glass of salt water, and compare it to the glass of tap water. Which weighs more?

What's Happening?
My nuts sink in freshwater, but float in salt water.

Salt water weighs more than fresh water. As a result, salt water is denser than fresh water. There is more "stuff" in salt water than in the same amount of fresh water. The denser salt water can hold up my nuts. But the fresh water doesn't have enough "stuff" in it to support the weight of my nuts. That's why things float better in salt water than in fresh water. That is also one of the reasons I have salty nuts.

This is going to be a short post because its late and I have to work tomorrow.

Yes, I have to work tomorrow and its Thanksgiving. If it makes you feel any better its become sort of a tradition. Every Thanksgiving I volunteer to work so that I can make sure I get off for Christmas Eve and Christmas. I usually work and feel sorry for myself because everybody else is off and I have to work. I then cry all of the way to the bank with my double time and a half.

Well, I hope everybody enjoys their Turkey Day.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Last night I went to the Mag and I actually enjoyed myself. First of all it was Tina's birthday at midnight and she was a lot of fun.

Second, there was this obnoxious girl that would not leave our table alone but she wouldn’t leave Bill alone especially.

Roy, Bill and I were sitting at a table talking. This girl walks up to our table and announces that its her birthday and she wants two cigarettes from us. None of us knew this girl even though I think we all have seen her in the bar before.

She then starts to pick up a friends hat, that Bill was watching and tries to put it on her head. Bill snags it out of her hand and she says that she worked at some school and she knows about lice and then tries to put the hat on again. Bill grabs it from her and asks her to PLEASE just walk away and that we don’t give a fuck if its her birthday.

She continues to get in Bill’s face but she finally walks off for a little while. She starts talking to people about how mean we are. As she blocks traffic through the bar this guy that always comes in and plays pool, who knows nothing of our problems with this girl says, “The whore is blocking the path. The white trash whore.” as he tries to get by.

Which made all of us at the table laugh our asses off. Apparently, she made a lot of friends last night. This is pretty much how the rest of the evening went on. She would come by and say something stupid (ex. “I drive a BMW!” “You’ve never seen tits like these!”) and Bill would either start screaming at her to leave us, the fuck, alone or we would end up laughing in her face. I kept waiting around for the key moment to wrap up this story nicely, but that moment never arrived. The bar was going to close in five minutes so we all got up and left.

What is it with people who don't know when they are not wanted. I really thought Bill might headbutt her. I was pretty sure he wouldn't but I know he really wanted to.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Don't forget to vote in the best caption contest.

So far, with a narrow lead, we have #2"...and if I keep squeezing, I turn from green to blue, but then I usually pass out." I was hoping for a few more votes but its not too bad.

I really need to start my Christmas shopping. Last year I was able to completely avoid the malls. I did about 75% of my Christmas shopping online, 20% at a couple of antique shops and the other 5% at Walmart at 4 in the morning and there wasn't very many people there. I've gotten to where I really hate crowds. I hate getting stuck walking behind a slow-ass shopper who apparently is not on any kind of time schedule. Which now that I write it out, may be the best way to do it. If you have to go to the mall, realize that you might as well find the first parking spot you see and walk the half mile to the mall. Wander aimlessly and at what ever pace the crowds allow. Realize that it will take you forever to get anything accomplished and resign yourself to your fate. You might be able to get through it painlessly.

I on the other hand plan to try and avoid the malls again and buy everything online. Last year I actually got done a week early because I ordered everything in advance to make sure it got here on time. I hope I can pull off the same feat this year.

Wish me luck.

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

Things have been going pretty good for me entertainment-wise lately.

I recently got Fatboy Slim's new album, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars and Johnny Cash's, American III: Solitary Man. Both are excellent. Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars is more like Fatboy Slim's first album Better Living Through Chemistry. The third song SUNSET (Bird of Prey) is interesting because it samples a Jim Morrison recording of his poetry. MADFLAVA, is funky but I'm going to have to listen to it a few more times before I can pick any singles off of the album. I do like TALKING BOUT MY BABY and RETOX.

After getting wound up with Fatboy Slim I put in Johnny Cash's, American III: Solitary Man and chilled out a little. I must admit it was odd hearing Johnny Cash sing the Tom Petty song I WON'T BACK DOWN, but I think Johnny did U2's, ONE, better than U2 did it. I think my favorite song on the album is Johnny's version of THAT LUCKY OLD SUN (JUST ROLLS AROUND HEAVEN ALL DAY). I might change my mind after a few more listenings but that song has always been an old favorite of mine so I may be biased. I really like Jerry Lee Lewis's version.

Also I saw Charlie's Angels recently and I enjoyed the movie immensely. It has just the right amount of cheese, kung fu, girls, car chases and explosions. I hear people complain about seeing so much wire fighting in movies since it was used in The Matrix. In Charlie's Angels, I think it was done very well and it just looks cool as shit. I must admit though that I think Cameron Diaz pulled off the kung fu wire fighting better than the Drew Barrymore or Lucy Liu. Another thing that amazed me was that they actually made Crispin Glover look like a badass. THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!! It may have helped that he didn't have one line in the movie. Though he did scream a couple of times. Overall it was a lot of fun. Besides you got to expect a certain amount of cheese... It is Charlie's Angels for chrissake!

Good Night, Good Morning, whatever.

I love Napster!

Its not like I stopped buying music. I buy just as much as I ever did. I go to Ear X-tacy almost every week. Most of the stuff I get from Napster is stuff that I want to sample. If its any good I buy it. Usually the mp3's have some loss of quality. The rest of what I get from Napster is just replacing things I used to own but either lost or had stolen or I had it on tape and can't find it.

Napster works because people actually share. Its kind of like the loaves and the fishes. You cast your songs upon the internet and they come back four fold. I don't think anybody feels guilty about downloading music. Everyone has bought a CD because of one song and then the rest of the album sucks. You get burned. Plus recorded music has always seemed kind of free because you listen to the radio and its free. You can tape radio broadcasts. I remember doing that when I was a kid. I didn't have the money to buy all of the music I wanted.

I support the musicians I like. For example, Radiohead and Fatboy Slim. I could have downloaded both of their albums before they were even out but I actually bought both of them. Make sure you download Napster and get with the program.

NAPSTER RULES!

Good NIght, Good Morning, whatever.
